How it all began...

Retired school teacher and very active volunteer, Nancy Butler, parlayed her love of golf into establishing the Thank A Veteran Golf Event 12 years ago to show her appreciation and give back to the many men and women who have served in the armed forces.

"They sacrifice so much for us. If I can give them one day to give thanks, then I feel like I've done something," she says enthusiastically.

Veterans play for free while others pay a very reasonable cost. Still other individuals and local business donate goods and services for silent auction and raffle items to raise money for various veteran-based organizations.

Veterans are treated to breakfast, a boxed lunch while on the course and a catered dinner when play is complete. The event is capped off with prizes awarded to winning teams and sponsor recognition ending with the silent auction and raffle.

The success of this tournament depends not only on the Board members, but also on the many volunteers that donate 100's of hours of their time towards making this event very special for our veterans.
